Albert Cuyp Street is situated in the neighbourhood of De Pijp and is famous mostly for its daily market with stalls, lining on both sides of the area. The market began functioning yet in 1904 and today there are more than 300 stalls. There is a great variety of products starting from vegetables, fruits, fish, traditional Dutch cheese to cosmetics and clothes. Prices are among the cheapest in the city, which attracts crowds of customers in the weekends and sunny days. This is an interesting and colourful place, where people of various cultures and nations mix up in a bustling integrity. Following the example of many other day markets, the Albert Cuyp focuses on offering cheap textiles and clothes, but it still retains the old charm and flair. Beethovenstraat is a modern street situated in the south part of the vibrant railway station Amsterdam Zuid. It was constructed in the beginning of the 20th Century and today it combines tradition with contemporary appearance. With its wide pavements and big shops, it attracts more tourists than the old streets of Amsteram. Shopping addicts will find it a perfect place to surrender to their favourite hobby – there is a great choice of shops with clothes, wine and chocolate products. This is the place where gourmets can have an authentic meal from various cuisines. Friendly but cosy setting and quality service are typical for the restaurants, such as the Japanese deli shop, known for the most delicious sushi in town. Begijnhof

Begijnhof dates back to the 14th Century and represents a court of almshouses, situated near the Amsterdam's major shopping area. It includes a peaceful garden and an English Reformed Church in the middle. Many of the houses were renovated in the period between the 17th and 18th Centuries, as only one of the wooden houses preserved its original Medieval spirit and ambience. Laywomen used to find shelter in Begijnhof, where they worked actively for the adjacent nunnery. The church has also undergone several changes – it was extended to the right and a chapel was built on the left side; the façade and interior were improved as well. In the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal you can visit the Begijnhof shop, offering various souvenirs about the Beguinage and its chapel: postcards, candles, brochures, pictures and other gifts. You can reach Begijnhof from the Amsterdam’s Historical Museum or through a doorway on the Spui.

Cornelis Schuytstraat is located in a close walking distance from the P.C. Hooftstraat, the so-called Rodeo Drive of Amsterdam. This is a relatively peaceful street with the tree-lined pavements and characteristic architecture of the buildings. Haarlemmerstraat is probably the youngest of all streets in Amsterdam – youngest by the year of construction and its general spirit. Jordaan is a particularly interesting district in Amsterdam, blending history with culture and traditions. It is located in the area of the Prinsengracht, Rozengracht and Bloemgracht canals and includes many restaurants, speciality shops and markets such as Noordermarkt, Lindengracht and the Westerstraat. Its name means 'garden' and that is why many canals and streets are named after flowers and trees. Jordaan was built in the 17th Century as a settlement of working class but nowadays it is one of the most exquisite and expensive districts in the Netherlands. In the Jordaan areas you can see many hofjes - inner courtyards with beautiful houses and gardens, built as a charity for elderly women.
