The Cabinet des Médailles, or Cabinet de France, bears the official title of Le département des Monnaies, Médailles et Antiquités de la Bibliothèque Nationale and is a department of the Bibliothèque nationale de France in Paris. Set in its former building in rue de Richelieu, the Cabinet des Médailles dates back to the times of the royal court treasuries of the Middle Ages. The Heritage Centre, situated in the authentic 19th-century villa was founded by the city government in order to provide information about Nice and the general region of Provence. The Centre Georges Pompidou, or Centre Pompidou, is a building complex in the old Beaubourg neighborhood of Paris, named in honour of Georges Pompidou, president of France in the years 1969 - 1974. The plans for the building were made by Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano, and opened in 1977. The structure is distinguished by its collection of Modern Art set within a 1970s creatively designed building.

Up on the hill of Cimiez there is an imposing 17th-century monastery housing the Franciscan museum, which reveals the history of the Franciscans' convent from the 13th Century to the present day. Inside you can admire the precious works of sacred art and religious documents of great importance. In the 15th-century church, it is worth seeing a large gilded wood Baroque altarpiece, the Seraphic Cross from 147 and an interesting work of 'Recumbent Christ' by a painter Louis Brea. Apart from the history, the museum also shows how the Franciscan way of life changed from the 17th Century until today. Around the monastery there is a large complex of park and flower gardens which offer a nice view over the nearby Paillon valley.

Set in the heart of Montmartre, a short stroll away from the place du Tertre, this museum provides a showcase of the phantasmagorical world of painter Salvador Dali, displaying a collection of sculptures and illustrations unique in the world. Founded in 1984 by Alain Perrin, chief executive of Cartier International, the Foundation Cartier is an institution established to promote contemporary art forms. The transparent glass building to house the foundation, at 261 Boulevard Raspail, was designed by Jean Nouvel under curator Herv Chands. The exhibition programme of the Cartier Foundation is chiefly geared towards promoting photography. Nouvel’s gallery for the Fondation Cartier is an exercise in transparency, following the quest to remove the border between inside and outside.
