The gallery specialises in modern art, including works of experimental artists. It shows pieces of internationally famous artists as well as local, lesser-known. Thus, it has created an interesting collection. This gallery has existed from the mid 1990s. Many world-renowned artists were exhibited for the first time at the individual exhibitions at Arndt & Partner. The new gallery is very serious about developing its own style among other Berlin galleries and improving Berlin's role on the worldwide art market after German reunification.

Alexander Ochs and Jaana Preuess, the founders of the gallery, may have established it just to bring artworks from the Far East and present them at Berlin’s contemporary art. The exhibits in the recent years have been widely commented by the severe Berlin's art critics. The gallery has taken part in international art displays from in New York and Venice.

This is an upscale gallery which displays diverse works of art, especially of British origin. Popular artists from Great Britain, such as Sara Lucas, have been presented during exhibitions in this venue.

DAAD Galerie

The gallery has been one of the main representatives of DAAD, the German Academic Exchange Service which has existed in West Berlin since the 1960s. Ever since its beginning the programme has supported many popular artists, including Daniel Buren, Mario Merz and Andrea Zittel.

The owner of the gallery used the rustic place to show his unique collection of contemporary art with many experimental works. Most of the exhibits on display are by artists of East German origin, including painters from Dresden. Some of them have taken part in ‘Documenta X’ exhibition thank to the support of the gallery.

Opened in 1997, this gallery has focused on artists from Great Britain, such as Bridget Smith and Julian Opie, although Thumm also displays the works of other artists, including German ones.

Many different pieces of art are on show in this fascinating gallery. The items that most strike out the visitors are the examples of classical modern art, including fine works of surrealists. The gallery was initially established in 1958 in the city of Hannover. In 1982 it opened its current premises in the very heart of Berlin at Kurfuerstendamm 213. For as long as 49 it has displayed classic modern art, especially surrealism, and contemporary figurative exhibits of art by innovative painters and sculptors. The gallery's exhibition activities will end with the show ‘The Great Finale’.
