Situated in London’s West End, in the trendy neighbourhood of Mayfair, the Albemarle Gallery focuses on contemporary paintings and sculpture produced by both renowned and emerging British, Irish, French, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Croatian, American, Canadian, South African, and Russian artists. The gallery’s collection contains primarily works of hyper realism as well as contemporary figurative, trompe l'oeil, and still life. There’s also an impressive gathering of abstract and surreal works. Many of the artists who were first shown at the Abermarle Gallery are now represented in public and private collections around the world.

Anthony Reynolds Gallery was originally established on the outskirts of the city in 1985. In 1990, it moved to the fashionable gallery den, the West End. Its current headquarters is an architectonic gem worth a visit itself. Over the past two decades, the gallery has presented works of over 250 painters and sculptors in more than 180 exhibitions. Currently, Anthony Reynolds Gallery represents 23 artists, and is well known for the discovery and development of many exceptional young talents. There’s really no leading motif running through its programme, except for continued intellectual surprise and stimulation.

The Art Vinyl Gallery is a quite unique exhibition venue dedicated exclusively to the field of vinyl cover art. The gallery’s exhibitions use the Play & Display Flip Frames system, which can display various arrangements of record covers without having to remove frames from the wall. Located in East End’s Broadway Market, the Art Vinyl Gallery is a particularly recommendable art venue on Saturday when a popular antiquities market takes place just outside and the exhibitions are accompanied by a live DJ set. Exhibitions at Art Vinyl change every two weeks. The gallery shop offers Play & Display frames and a wide range of vinyl covers reproductions.

Founded in 1996, Asia House is the leading British organisation devoted to the matters of diplomatic, commercial and cultural interaction between Asia and Britain. The institute’s lively cultural calendar features around 125 annual events engaging 30 Asian countries. Of particular renown is the organisation’s gallery. Located in an 18th-century townhouse designed by Robert and James Adam and John Johnson, it boasts a spectacular museum-standard gallery rooms. Permanent and temporary exhibitions feature works of Asian historical and contemporary visual arts and crafts as well as impressive photography collections.

Originally established in 1979, the Austin Desmond Fine Art has since relocated from its early headquarters to the fashionable Bloomsbury area. Specialising in 20th-century British, Irish and international art, the gallery displays drawings, paintings and sculpture by such established artists as Henry Moore, Frank Auerbach, Jean Dubuffet, Ben Nicholson, Dan Flavin, Lucian Freud, Barbara Hepworth, David Hockney, Bridget Riley, Howard Hodgkin, and Cy Twombly. London’s legendary Barbican is the largest multi-arts and conference venue in Europe. It’s often referred to as the Intergalactic Gallery, as its event calendar features a staggering range of art, music, dance, theatre and educational events. The building of the Barbican is also home to the famous London Symphony Orchestra. The Barbican Art Gallery houses major exhibitions by leading figures from the field of international art, from renowned architects to the recent Turner-prize winners. Every first Thursday of the month, the gallery remains open until 10pm, offering a special exhibition accompanied by a seminar session and an open Martian cocktail bar.

The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan is a major institute for Indian arts and culture. The organisation was established in India in 1938 and boasts over 100 branches throughout its mother country. Inaugurated in London in 2002 as the first independent overseas branch, it occupies a light and spacious exhibition hall with a decked terrace. The main purpose of the London branch is the preservation and development of Indian arts in the United Kingdom. It’s currently the largest centre of Indian art and culture outside of India. Although focusing primarily on Indian culture, the gallery often organises shows of various cultural profiles, thus seeking to establish connections in the world of contemporary art.

The European section of Bloomberg was inaugurated in London in 2002. Focused on commissioning and promoting of contemporary art, the Bloomberg Space is a dynamic art centre that doesn’t really rely on any kind of profiled agenda. Instead, it allows both artists and visitors to explore new concepts and relationship in a very innovative and interactive way. The Bloomberg Space is a logical continuation of Bloomberg’s programme, intent on bringing together the most unexpected and combining it with the well-known in order to create an entirely new dimension of artistic time and space.
