Ciak theatre in Milan was established in 1977. It became famous for the provocative character of its programme and the innovative art performances shown on stage. The theatre today aims at a slightly different image - varied programme, including drama, comedy, dance, music, concerts, etc. Bold and innovative, it remains one of the top venues for theatre fans in Milan.

Centro di Ricerca Teatrale, or The centre for Theatrical Research, is part of the architectural ensemble of Palazzo dell'Arte di Milano, known as Trienale. The theatre here was first established in 1933. In the 50s it was managed by the RAI group, which turned it into a live television studio. Its purely theatrical core was created in the mid-70s. In 1983, the place launched its new theatrical activity as the CRT theatre and is, till today, dedicated to theatre.

The theatre, located in the 14th district of Milan, was founded in the end of the 70s. It has a small and hospitable stage, which hosts various companies - lately also the amateur theatre of the Milano municipality. Still this is one of the most cherished theatrical venues for children. Its main activities focused on children's theatre and puppet shows.

The Filodrammatici theatre was built in 1978. It was founded by Luigi Canonica. Later on the theatre was subject to many refurbishments and renovation until today - it has still preserved much of its original appearance. Filodrammatici theatre is located on a square adjacent to the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. Its music programme is more than worth your while.

Teatro Lirico was founded in 1894 and it was then called Teatro alla Canobbiana. In the 19th and 20th Centuries it was famous mainly for its opera performances, many world-famous premiers among them. Unfortunately, the theatre was closed in 1998. A big restoration project was launched in 2007 and the theatre's glamorous re-opening is expected in 2009.
