The restaurant menu is famous for its historical aspect, for example the barely cake is prepared the same way it used to be in the 11th Century by James I. Riga has a food market which is the oldest market in Europe, every stall sells a different type of food, whether it's meat or herbs providing you with the true experience of the country. Latvia is known to have the best cafes in the Baltic region and they are famous for their light pastries and excellent coffees. In all major cities you'll also find many internet cafes. Nightclubs including gay clubs dominate in the capital, every club plays a different genre of music to suit everybody's musical taste.

The country has a lot of forests and intact nature that covers about a third of the country. The most popular National Park for tourists and locals is the Gauja National Park, with the longest river in Latvia flowing through the centre. The park also has many observation points, walking trails, well-established camping facilities, rest areas, car parks, various types of tourist cabins, cafes, information centres and the services of knowledgeable guides. There are many rivers and lakes in Latvia, making it an ideal destination for summer swimming, fishing and sailing. The natural trails also make it a perfect place for cycling, hiking, walking and taking in the scenery. The beaches stretch 497 kilometres along the coast and have sand dunes 36 metres high, which are impressive tourist attractions and are the setting of many activities.
