The Casino de Paris is a historic spectacle hall, located in the 9th district. In 1730, Duke Richelieu and Marshal Louis François Armand of Vignerot du Plessis constructed a place where Louis XV could organise spectacles of his choice. In 1779 Baron d'Ogny bought it and renamed it Folie-Richelieu. It was ran by the young Fortunée Hamelin. In 1811 it was turned into an immense attraction park, which was demolished in 1851. The church Sainte-Trinité de Paris was built on its place. Later, Baron Haussmann ordered to built the church at the lower place and a leisure lobby emerged on its former grounds. It included a skating rink. In 1880 part of the skating rink was turned into the Palace theatre that was an immense success. In 1914 the theatre was bought by Raphaël Beretta who transformed it into a movie theatre and a music hall. Due to the bombardments of 1918, the theatre was closed.
