This excursion takes you to a still Heidi-like region, where old traditions are still alive daily. Enjoy a coach journey to the MAESTRANI, where you will be introduced to the secrets and art of chocolate making and even get to try and buy it (top savings!).Continue to Schwagalp (4500 ft/1352 m) surrounded by mountains and green hills. Hundreds of cows spend the summer on this Alpine pasture. Listen to the cow bells and observe the traditional way of cheese making. After this, drive through the lovely hills and mountains of the Appenzellerland.
Stop in Appenzell and discover and enjoy this lovely town its scenic painted houses. Time at leisure. Great strolling and shopping in the narrow pedestrian streets. Optional visit of the Museum of Appenzell, where you learn about traditions and way of life in this part of Switzerland, or enjoy a local specialty in one of the cozy Appenzeller Restaurants (optional and additional cost).
Return to Zurich via the mountain passes of Wasserfluh and Ricken.
