HOTEL DESCRIPTION
Located in the center of the city, the Mandarin Oriental, Munich is a peaceful oasis of Neo-Renaissance enchantment and elegance, ensuring the highest levels of individual service. This award-winning hotel is the new benchmark of luxury within the city’s most historic location. The hotel is perfectly situated in the very center of Munich, in the Old Town, in close proximity to many museums, the Bavarian Opera House, theatres and the world-famous Hofbraeuhaus (beer hall and gardens). This area is considered Munich’s most exclusive district, famous for its superb restaurants, designer boutiques, boulevard cafés, fine art galleries and picturesque gourmet markets. Unique features of Mandarin Oriental, Munich are its restaurant Mark’s, which has been awarded with 1 Michelin Star, and its roof terrace featuring a heated swimming pool and stunning 360 degree view over the city towards the Alps. After undergoing major renovations in 2007, the Mandarin Oriental"s interior acquired a unique ambience. The most magnificent are the Mandarin Suite and the Oriental Suite. The decor of both suites is dominated by Santos rosewood, which was used to make the rooms" furniture, wall paneling and doors. The guest rooms feature centrally-adjustable lighting, high speed internet/wireless LAN connection, an individually-adjustable air conditioning system, B&O flat-screen TV"s (with 32 and 50 inch screens) receiving more than 400 channels and integrated DVD player, CD players and radios, laptop connection to the TV sets. The latest technology can also be found in the marble bathrooms, which are equipped with flatscreens and modern sprinkler systems. NEW DESIGN AND PRECIOUS ART FOR ROOMS AND SUITES IN THE MANDARIN ORIENTAL, MUNICH Munich, July 5, 2007 – After a redesign period of only three months, the 48 guest rooms, 25 suites and hotel corridors of Mandarin Oriental, Munich now shine in new splendor. Some 7.5 million euros were invested in refurbishing the 2nd – 7th floor as well as for the renewal of the outer facade of the building. The highlights of the refurbishment are the exclusive Mandarin Suite (325 m2) and the Oriental Suite (70 m2), with a striking, contemporary Asian design that makes use of premium materials and technical refinements. The new conservatories of the two suites are particularly outstanding, which were created by incorporating the patios. With glass sliding doors they provide an airy, light-flooded atmosphere and a unique view of the city’s landmarks. Asian objets d’art thousands of years old and worth 3.8 million euros turn the suites into a private museum. The guest rooms have also been given an Asian touch with exotic plants, valuable works of art from the Far East and Oriental patterns reflecting the heritage of the luxury hotel group. A timeless and discreet interplay between East and West has also been created with the cherrywood furniture in style of the neo-Biedermeier period, including desks, chests of drawers and tables. State-of-the-art technology, such as Bang & Olufsen flatscreen televisions with over 600 channels, reflects the emphasis on exclusive comfort. Lars Wagner, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Munich, comments the refurbishment: “Very individualized and highly professional service combined with innovative technology, an exclusive ambience and the very highest quality materials provide our guests with an unforgettable, harmonious stay including all modern conveniences – a perfect symbiosis of service and contemporary hospitality.” Architect Ralf Clausen of CM Design explains: “Our aim is to combine a contemporary and high-quality design with borrowing of art deco forms to create a sense of well-being amid genuine works of art, which are thousands of years old.”
