Waloon Brabant
Walloon Brabant is the second-smallest province in Belgium, after Brussels. It lies in the very heart of the country, surrounded by the provinces of Hainaut, Namur, Liege and Flemish Brabant. The province belongs geographically and culturally to the French-speaking part of the country. Arguably the most popular tourist attraction here is Waterloo. The small provincial town is world-famous as the venue for the Battle of Waterloo, one of the best-known events in world history. The administrative centre of the province is Wavre, which features nearly 1,000 years of history. Its most notable sights are a Gothic cathedral and the largest amusement park in Belgium, visited by more than a million guests every year. Especially colourful is the city's carnival, which is only one of the countless festivities, celebrations and religious processions in Walloon Brabant.
