Posavina
Posavina is the smallest canton in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its neighbours are
the Republic of Srpska and Croatia, and the area does not share a border with the rest of the federation. As the name suggests, the region is situated in the wide valley of the Sava River, which forms a natural border with Croatia. The terrain here is flat without any significant elevations, which, in fact, reduces the tourist-appeal of Posavina, but makes it extremely suitable for agricultural use. In fact, this tiny region ranks among the leading food producers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is also crucial for the transportation system of the country, since Sava is the only navigable river. The majority of the population are ethnic Croats. Posavina is one of the two Bosnian administrative divisions with such an ethnic map, the other one being Canton 10. The principal town of the region, Orasje, is nothing more than a mid-sized village. It is venue for numerous events and annual festivals. The most popular and attractive for both participants and spectators is the International Meeting of Motorcyclists.
