Zagreb
The county of Zagreb is located in Northern Croatia and surrounds almost completely the city of Zagreb, which has the status of a separate administrative unit. The county borders Slovenia to the west, Karlovac and Sisak-Moslavina to the south, Bjelovar-Bilogora to the east and Zagreb City, Varazdin, Krapina-Zagorje and Koprivnica-Krizevci to the north. Although much of the county's territory belongs to the urban area of the Croatian capital, there are still idyllic rural areas with farms and provincial villages that provide tourists with the opportunity to explore the country and feel its spirit. The wooded hills in the region are a favourite recreational zone for citizens of the capital and their guests. A couple of events, such as the street art festival in the tiny town of Sveta Nedelja and local folk music fests, cater to an interesting and diverse cultural programme.
