Varazdin
Varazdin is a comparatively small county nestled in the northernmost end of Croatia, but counts as the most densely populated area in the country. Most of its area is occupied by productive land, but in spite of that Varazdin isn't considered a rural region. It has very well-developed industry and is a transportation and financial centre of international significance. Among the most attractive spots for tourists in the region are the health and spa resort of Varazdinske Toplice, the majestic Vindija Cave and Trakoscan Castle, a Medieval pearl regarded as the most romantic and beautiful castle in Croatia. The county's administrative centre, Varazdin, offers plenty of Baroque buildings, splendid churches and palaces and an amazing cemetery. Cultural events abound in the whole region, of the festival of Varazdin's Baroque Evenings every autumn being one of them.
