Koprivnica-Krizevci
The county of Koprivnica-Krizevci lies in the northern part of Croatia, on the Hungarian border. It also borders Medimurje to the north, Varazdin to the west and Zagreb, Bjelovar-Bilogora and Virovitica-Podravina to the south. The landscape is flat with rare hills and valleys, the biggest one being the valley of the river Drava, which occupies much of the county's area and concentrates the economic activity. Large vineyard massifs are both a tourist attraction and pillar of local economy. The capital of the county, Koprivnica, originates from the end of the 13th Century, and over the years it has changed its functions multiple times, from free royal town, through lively trading place to important military fortification. The other bigger settlement in the region, Krizevci, is interesting mainly because of its cultural heritage, consisting of eight Medieval churches.
