Sibenik-Knin
Sibenik-Knin is a county on the Dalmatian coast in Southern Croatia. It borders Bosnia and Herzegovina and the counties of Zadar and Split-Dalmatia. The most exciting feature of the area is the huge number of islands that composes the most indented part of the whole Mediterranean coast. 242 islands of various shape and dimensions represent one of the most indescribable vistas to be seen anywhere. More than half of them are united into Kornati National Park. Other natural sites of exceptional value include Krka National Park, a spectacular karst phenomenon, and the lowest Croatian island, Krapanj. Isolated beaches and maintained cycling paths form the tourist infrastructure on the bigger islands. The continental part of the region is also worth a visit. Its administrative centre, Sibenik, was founded in 1066 and was a royal city during the Middle Ages. Its most famous landmark, St. Jacob's Cathedral, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. Ancient archaeological sites, Medieval fortifications and traditional Dalmatian cuisine are a few more reasons to visit the county of Sibenik-Knin.
