Zadar
The county of Zadar is situated in Central Croatia, and serves as the only link between the southern Dalmatian coast and the rest of the country. It spreads from the border with Bosnia and Herzegovina, east to the Adriatic Sea. The landscape of the region is extremely varied and offers stunning scenery, from rugged mountains to long, fine beaches and a host of tiny islands off the shore. Especially attractive are the longest Croatian island, Pag, and its counterparts Dugi Otok, Ugljan and Pasman, all of which have been turned into elite seaside holiday destinations. Apart from their beaches of unequalled quality, these islands are strewn with nature reserves and protected areas. A nature park, Telascica, and the gorgeous canyon of the river Zrmanja are other breathtaking venues in this district. Zadar County is also famous for its top-quality wines and liquor, plus its excellent cuisine. If you go in for historical heritage and mysteries from the past, then the 3,000-year-old city of Zadar is your ultimate destination.
