Oulu
The Oulu province is situated in the central part of Finland, and borders Lapland to the north, Western and Eastern Finland to the south and Russia to the east. To the west, it has a wide outlet on the Gulf of Bothnia. Numerous ports and fishing villages are scattered along the coast. Rivers and lakes in the inland entice watersports fans. The main city, Oulu, is the sixth-largest city in Finland and regarded as the cultural, economic and transport centre of this part of the country. It features copious museums, a perfectly maintained botanical garden and a 200-year-old Evangelical Lutheran cathedral. Oulu's extraordinarily rich cultural lif isn't only famous in Finland -- every year, it's the venue for prestigious events such as the internationally recognized Music Video Festival and Jalometalli Metal Music Festival.
