Haute-Normandie
Haute-Normandie is a coastal region in France in the northwestern part, situated between Basse-Normandie and Picardy, and crossed by the River Seine. It's known as a fertile area with many beech forests, and is part of the bigger and older region of Normandy; the other part is called Basse-Normandie. Seafood dishes are typical for this region, as they're fresh and easily available. However, the local cuisine includes delicious dishes made from lamb, duck and chicken as well. The most famous food of Normandy is its butter. Camembert, one of the great Normandy cheeses, has been around for hundreds of years. It and brie are the most consumed French cheeses, eaten all over the world. Other cheeses to be found here include Brillat Savarin (a wonderful triple cream), Neufchatel (creamier and lighter, with a more distinguished taste) and the ‘stinky’ cheeses of Livarot and Pont L’Eveque.
