Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania) is a state in the northern part of Germany, divided into two parts, Mecklenburg and Vorpommern. Its capital is Schwerin. The region is known as the largest area of waterways in Central Europe. From Wismar to the northwest to the Feldberg Lakes to the southeast and into the eastern part of the Brandenburg region runs across the terminal moraine of the last ice age. The territory of the state is covered successively by charming meadows, fields, large forests and lakes. The coastline of the Baltic Sea attracts a lot of tourists, as well as the nearby islands, such as Rugen Island. A very popular tourist destination is the Mecklenburg Lake District. Tourism is very well-developed throughout the region. Two of the oldest universities in Europe, Rostock and Greifswald, are located there.
