Hajdú-Bihar
Hajdu-Bihar is the fourth-largest and fourthmost populous administrative division of Hungary. It's located in the eastern end of the country, and is surrounded by Romania to the east and the domestic counties of Szabolcs-Szatmar-Bereg, Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen, Jasz-Nagykun-Szolnok and Bekes. The landscape is extremely monotonous, without a single elevation. Two big rivers, Koros and Tisza, flow through the county. The latter forms the Hortobagy Plain, maybe the most characteristic area of the country. The largest natural grassland on the continent has the status of a national park and belongs to the UNESCO World Heritage List. Very attractive for tourists are the performances presented by horseherds wearing national costumes. Roaming horses and mirages also fire up the imagination of visitors. The second-largest city in Hungary, Debrecen, is the administrative, cultural and economical centre of the county. Museums, art galleries, noteworthy buildings and various cafes and restaurants are among the highlights of every visit to this city.
