Abruzzo
Abruzzo is one of the Italian regions. Its western border is less than 50 miles away from Rome. It should be visited for its natural beautiful scenery, Medieval castles and villages, ruins from Roman times and monasteries. Its territory is mainly mountainous with some hills and coastline. One third of it is national or regional parks. The coast in the northern part has good sandy beaches; going down to the south it becomes rockier. Visitors should visit the Sette Sorelle (the Seven Sisters) which are seven resorts in the province of Teramo as well as Martinsicuro, Silvi and the beaches at Pescara and Francavilla al Mare. The cuisine is based on peasant dishes. Lamb meat, goat’s and lamb’s milk cheese are very popular food.
