Krāslava
Kraslava is situated in the south-eastern end of Latvia, and borders Belarus and the districts of Daugavpils, Preili, Rezekne and Ludza. The region is regarded as one of the most picturesque areas in the country, due to its location on the banks of the river Daugava. The most popular tourist attractions include Kraslava Castle with its adjacent Baroque garden from the 18th Century, the imposing Roman Catholic cathedral and the Orthodox Church of St. Alexander Nevsky, both of them also originating from the second half of the 18th Century. The only two towns in the
district are the administrative centre of Kraslava, and the village of Dagda.
