Kuldīga
The district of Kuldiga is located in Western Latvia, close to the Baltic Sea. It borders the regions of Ventspils, Talsi, Tukums, Saldus and Liepaja. The landscape of the area is determined almost entirely by two groups of hills, which rise up to 140 metres high. To the north and west, the terrain is perfectly flat. Two significant rivers flow through Kuldiga, the Venta and Abava, but their role is mainly for agriculture and recreation. Almost half of the district's territory is covered with woodlands, which provide incomparable conditions for rural tourism and outdoor activities. The region is an important transportation hub with national importance. Its largest settlement is the administrative centre of Kuldiga, which attracts visitors with remarkable buildings of various architectural styles, such as the Synagogue or the Town Hall, for instance.
