Ludza
Ludza is the easternmost Latvian district, on the border with Russia. It's surrounded by the local districts of Balvi to the north, Rezekne to the west and Kraslava to the south. The landscape of the area is completely flat, with a strong presence of moorlands and marshlands that aren't suitable for agriculture. There are several objects of tourist interest, above all Medieval castles with moats, aristocratic mansions, burial mounds and historical churches. Plenty of music festivals draw visitors and participants from all over the country.
