Saldus
The Saldus district lies in Southern Latvia, on the border with Lithuania. To the west, north and east, the region is surrounded by Liepaja, Kuldiga, Tukums and Dobele, respectively. The terrain is almost absolutely flat, with humble hills in the eastern part of the district. Tourist attractions include numerous aristocratic mansions and estates with marvellously laid-out gardens, as well as historical churches, windmills and more. There's also an increasingly popular annual rock music festival near the village of Lasupe. The only bigger settlement in the district is the town of Saldus, which hosts the administrative headquarters.
