Bauska
Bauska is an administrative division in the southern part of Latvia, bordering Lithuania to the south and the districts of Jelgava, Riga, Ogre and Aizkraukle. The area has extremely flat terrain with a dense network of short rivers and creeks. A large part of it is occupied by forests and the rest is devoted to agriculture. The only settlement, which has acquired the status of a town, is Bauska, the administrative centre of the district of the same name. It offers visitors a combination of close contact with nature and remarkable historical traditions. The ruins of Bauska Castle originate from the 13th Century, while the magnificent Rundale Palace nearby is the most famous example of Baroque architecture in Latvia.
