Malta
Malta is the biggest and most important island of the Maltese Archipelago. It hosts almost the whole population of the country and is its geographical, economic and cultural heart. The most outstanding features of this island are the bare terraced fields and hills, and the extremely indented coastline. Because of its unique identity with traces of several epochs, the Maltese capital was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
