Drochia
The district of Drochia lies in northern Moldova, surrounded by Soroca and Floresti to the east,
Donduseni to the north, Riscani to the west and Singerei to the south. The landscape in the
region is quite varied with a mixture of low elevations, idyllic river valleys and spacious fertile fields used for agricultural production. The vineyards are of superb quality and are the basis for the production of sparkling wines. Among the tourist points of interest we should pay attention to a range of mansions, old fortresses and beautiful parks, which are foremost in and around the principal town of Drochia. The latter is one of the significant industrial centres in northern Moldova. Its most representative landmark is a finely ornamented Orthodox church with unique frescoes.
