Glodeni
Glodeni is a district in the central part of Western Moldova. Its neighbours are Romania to the
west, Riscani to the north, the city of Balti to the east and Falesti to the south. The terrain in the
area varies greatly, comprising parts of the valley of Prut and Codri Heights, as well as the
extensive hilly fields between them. The most representative natural attraction of Moldova
is situated in the district along the banks of Prut. The river's tributaries are scattered with a great number
of limestone reefs, which form an integral chain spreading on more than 200 kilometres. They are
called 'The Prut Toltrels' and are unique in Europe. Another point of interest is the tiny village of
Cobani - the first settlement on the country's territory whose existence was attested by written
documents in 1374. Located near the village is another natural phenomenon that draws the attention of tourists: 'The Hundred Knolls'. This attraction is similar to the Padurea Domneasca Nature Reserve, which is considered among the most beautiful spots in the country.
