Edineţ
Edinet is a district situated in the northwestern corner of Moldova. Its neighbours are Romania to
the west, as well as the domestic counties of Briceni and Ocnita to the north, Donduseni to the
east and Riscani to the south. Edinet comprises the northernmost reaches of the Codri Heights,
which rise during the centre of the country. These areas are known for their natural beauty and
comparatively well-preserved flora and fauna. In the west stretches the idyllic valley of the Prut River, the place where most of the farmland is concentrated. The Central European flair of the district can be clearly felt in any of the medieval castles and mansions that are scattered around. Many villages, such as Brinzeni, Hincauti and Stolniceni, have their own gardens and parks that are a perfect place for relaxating among nature in all seasons. The principal town, Edinet, is remarkable above all because of its rich collection of folk costumes and artefacts stored in the Museum of National Craftsmen.
