Făleşti
The district of Falesti lies in the central part of western Moldova along the left bank of the
Prut River. It shares common borders with Romania to the west, Glodeni and the city of Balti to the
north, Singerei to the east and Ungheni to the south. The terrain of the region varies from
west to east. The Romanian frontier is formed by the Prut River, with its valley being the focal point of vegetable, fruit and wine production. It gradually passes into the low foothills of the Codri Heights - an area characterised with numerous creeks and picturesque valleys. The eastern half of Falesti falls within the main range of the Codri, whose wooded slopes are the preferred destination for nature lovers, hikers, mountaineers and even fans of hunting tourism. The capital of the district, Falesti, is important as a railway station with several small industrial factories.
