Floreşti
Floresti is one of the 36 administrative divisions of Moldova. It lies in the northeastern part of the
country between Ukraine and Soroca to the north, Transnistria and Soldanesti to the east,
Telenesti and Singerei to the south and Drochia to the west. The landscape of the district is
quite varied, dominated by the valleys of Reut and Dniester Rivers. These are divided by low parallel ranges of hills and wide fertile plains. The above-mentioned rivers are the preferred destinations for swimming, sunbathing and fishing during in the hot summer months. Located near the village of Japca is an impressive natural monument called 'Skala Japca'. In its vicinity are several mineral water sources. In the village, guests can visit one of the few functioning convents in Moldova. Two of the Moldovan presidents were born in villages in the district of Floresti. The principal town with the same name boasts more than 300 years of history, but in the outskirts much older traces of settlement have been found.
