Ştefan Voda
The district of Stefan Voda occupies the south-eastern corner of Moldova. It is surrounded by the
territory of Ukraine on three sides. The other neighbours of Stefan Voda include the domestic
district of Causeni and the separatist republic of Transnistria to the north. The scenery in the area
is flat and monotonous, formed by the wide valley of Dniester and the northernmost parts of the
saline Black Sea coastal plain. The region possesses a competely rural character, with agriculture being the pillar of economy. The only significant settlement, which is simply a bigger village, is the
administrative centre Stefan Voda. It is famous for its reputable winery. Among the few points of
interest for tourists we should mention the village of Talmaza with its major sight 'The Blind
Dniester'.
