dominated by the southernmost parts of the Codri Heights. They are an attractive destination for

medieval mansions and castles. The west of Ungheni is occupied by the deep valley of Prut River,
which forms the frontier with Romania. It is a crucial thoroughfare of international importance, as
well as a preferred summer refuge for holidaymakers in the summer heat. The administrative centre
Ungheni is a major railway hub between Romania and Moldova. it is also one of the oldest towns
in the country and attracts guests with copious museums, libraries, cinemas and the Palace of
Culture.
