North Brabant
North Brabant is the second largest and third most populous province in the Netherlands. It occupies large parts of the Dutch South and borders Zeeland to the west, South Holland and Gelderland to the north and Limburg to the east. The southern border of the region is with Belgium. The province is part of the historical Brabant region, the southern part of which is now in Belgium. One of the best developed Dutch areas in the late Middle Ages, Brabant was the scene of incessant conflicts between Protestants and Catholics. Today, the population of the region is concentrated almost entirely in the big urban areas, such as Eindhoven, Den Bosch and Breda, while the largely uninhabited countryside is completely devoted to intensive agriculture. Tourist attractions are to be found in the largest city, Eindhoven, a multicultural metropolis with diverse entertainment options. The administrative centre, Den Bosch, is an old Medieval city with a row of imposing landmarks from that epoch.
