Zeeland
Zeeland is the third smallest and second least populous province in the Netherlands. It occupies the south-western end of the country on the border with Belgium. More than a third of the region's territory is water, represented by a complicated network of lakes, rivers, waterways and gulfs. The rest is mainly drained marshland, used for intensive agriculture. Almost the entire province is reclaimed from the sea, but a number of destroying floods have happened over time. The small town of Middelburg, which dates back to the 9th Century, is the administrative centre of Zeeland. It's remarkable for its spectacular architecture and plenty of heritage sites and monuments.
