Greater Poland
Located in western Poland, Greater Poland is known as the cradle of Polish state where the two first seats of Polish rulers, Gniezno and Poznan, are situated. Therefore, it is dotted with interesting historical sights dating back to the early Middle Ages. For a significant period the landscape is predominantly low-lying, with a number of lakelands in the northern part and a beautiful forested Wielkopolski National Park with typically post-glacial landscape. Impressive Poznan, a bustling capital of the Province, is known as Poland’s major site of trade fairs, also attractive as a tourist destination, with a pretty Old Town and a great lake offering annually-organized regattas. There are also several smaller towns deserving attention, including Rogalin, Kornik or Lednica.
