Carinthia
The region of Carinthia, comprising two separate parts, is situated in the northernmost part of Slovenia and borders Austria, Upper Carniola and Styria to the north. The province is also known as Slovenian Carinthia in order to be distinguished from the neighbouring Austrian land with the same name. The region's landscape is dominated by the easternmost end of the Alps. Its authentic rural communities are a major attraction for tourists, as well the untouched nature and traditional Slovenian hospitality. Regional customs and culture are extremely diverse, a result of the region's turbulent history and alternating rulers. The largest settlement in the region is Dravograd, a major transportation hub on the banks of river Drava.
