Andalucia
Andalusia is situated in the southernmost part of Spain and borders Extremadura, Murcia and Castilla La Mancha to the north, as well as Portugal to the west. The British overseas territory of Gibraltar occupies a huge cliff in the extreme south where the Atlantic Ocean meats the Mediterranean Sea. Andalusia is the most populous and second largest autonomous community in the country and features a unique mixture of European and African cultures, tradition and modernity combined with a strikingly beautiful countryside and lively urban areas. This is the hottest region in Europe with wild rugged landscapes, ranging from extensive semi-dessert areas to the highest peak in Spain, Mulhacen, which is covered with snow year round. The incredibly long and spectacularly shaped Andalusian coastline has turned the region into a prime seaside tourist destination that possesses some of the finest beaches and resorts worldwide. Cadiz, the oldest city in Europe, along with the architectural pearl Granada and the bustling metropoles Sevilla and Malaga attract millions of visitors from around the globe. This part of Spain is also renowned for its wine and citrus fruit production.
