Zug
The tiny canton of Zug is the third smallest of the 26 administrative divisions of the Alpine country. It lies in the very heart of Switzerland, surrounded by Aargau, Lucerne, Schwyz and Zurich. The terrain is predominantly mountainous, crossed by deep, wide valleys. Much of its territory is occupied by two lakes, Zugersee and Agerisee, which represent marvellous spots for watersports and idyllic hikes in nature. The region boasts a dynamic history with plenty of significant events, including the emblematic win over the Habsburgs near Morgarten in 1315. Zug is known for its high level of industrial development, and also as the canton with the lowest taxes in Switzerland. The largest administrative centre is Zug, a 760-year-old town with superb infrastructure and great transport and economic significance.
