Armagh
Armagh
Armagh is a county in the southern part of Northern Ireland, on the border with the Republic of Ireland. In addition, it borders the counties of Tyrone to the west and Down to the east. The smallest of six administrative divisions, it boasts a mild climate and beautiful landscapes, part of which is the remarkable Lough Neagh to the north. It's strewn with idyllic desolate islands, which represent a perfect destination for romantic boat trips. A couple of rivers contribute to the great development of agriculture in the area. Due to its extraordinarily fertile land, County Armagh is known far beyond its borders for its apple orchards. The county's administrative centre, Armagh City, is a relatively small town nowadays, but with a huge role in the Christian history of the island. Two cathedrals, one of which originates from the year 445, are only a hint of what awaits visitors in this traditional town. The various pagan ritual sites, imposing mansions and monuments should also not be missed.
