West Dunbartonshire
The second smallest council area in Scotland, West Dunbartonshire, lies in the heart of the country, just west of the city of Glasgow. The area consists of two larger towns, Dumbarton and Clydebank, and a small prevailingly rural district between them. Most tourist attractions are within those two towns and include museums, art galleries, theatres, as well as nightclubs and shopping centres. Clydebank is the largest town, but offers few heritage sites or places worth seeing. Rather, it is a commuter area in the outskirts of Glasgow, as are actually all other settlements in West Dunbartonshire. Loch Lomond is one of the best places for watersports in the entire United Kingdom and is the leading tourist destination in this area.
