East Dunbartonshire
East Dunbartonshire is situated in the central part of Scotland, just northwest of Glasgow. It is one of the small administrative units in the country with a dense network of towns and villages. The administrative centre is Kirkintilloch, a town with rich cultural programme of events and festivals. The landscape of the area is dominated by Campsie Fells, a group of low hills, where the sources of many rivers are located. From an archaeological point of view, the remains of the Antonine Wall represent great scientific interest. Otherwise, there are no important natural or cultural monuments that are worth mentioning. The region is rich in canals, rivers and waterways which are important for transport as well as serve as a setting for many outdoor activities.
