Angus
The Angus council area is located on the east coast of the country, surrounded by Aberdeenshire,
Perth and Kinross and the city of Dundee. The region is predominantly rural with only a few towns.
The administrative centre and traditional market town Forfar and the biggest town in the area
Arbroath with the derelict Medieval abbey, where the Declaration of Arbroath was proclaimed, are
among the few settlements with tourist significance. Nevertheless, the diverse nature of Angus
attracts visitors from near and far with its beauty. The area is concentrated
almost entirely on agriculture and fishing and abounds in cosy picturesque farms. It is also known
for the large number of Scottish castles accessible to visitors and the enchanting nature reserves.
Another must-see for guests of Angus is the collection of carved Pictish stones from the pre-Christian period of Scotland, which are to be found next to the tiny village of Aberlemno.
