Aberdeenshire
Aberdeenshire is the easternmost council area in Scotland, washed by the waters of the North
Sea. Due to its rugged landscape the region is thinly populated with about a dozen towns such as
Peterhead and Fraserburgh, and many farms and villages that still keep the original spirit of
Scotland. The major tourist attractions include some interesting museums, such as Fraserburgh
Lighthouse Museum and the Grampian Transport Museum, as well some preserved castles and
fortifications. The natural beauty of the district is preserved in a number of protected areas,
natural parks and reserves. Crystal clear lakes and rivers provide perfect conditions for fishing and
watersports, or just for a pleasant picnic in stunningly beautiful settings.
