South Ayrshire
South Ayrshire is a middle-sized council area on the west coast of Scotland. It is a perfect family, sports and cultural destination. The stunning landscape of the area provides numberless possibilities for hiking, horseback riding and cycling. Plenty of top quality golf courses await fans of this sport. Endless miles of sandy beach attract nature and watersport lovers, while the unique cultural heritage caters for the needs of history buffs. Maybe the best known place in South Ayrshire is Alloway, the birthplace of the great Robert Burns, with the Burns National Heritage Park, where lots of objects and facts connected to the poet can be admired. The administrative centre, Ayr, is an atmospheric historical city with rich cultural programme. Girvan is a small town, proud of its colourful flower gardens. The traditional market town of Maybole is remarkable for its magnificent architecture and especially the emblematic Medieval Maybole Castle.
