Carmarthenshire
Carmarthenshire is one of the largest Welsh administrative divisions. Located in the southwestern
part of the country, Carmarthenshire borders on Pembrokeshire to the west, Ceredigion to the
north, Powys to the east and Neath Port Talbot and Swansea to the south. In addition, the region
has access to the Bristol Channel. The prevailingly mountainous and hilly relief contributes to
the great attractiveness of the area as a tourist destination. Especially popular activities here are hiking and mountain biking. On the other hand, rows of tranquil sandy beaches along the coastline provide incomparable opportunities for seaside holidays and practising watersports. Undoubtedly the highlight of the county is the Pembrey Country Park which combines spectacular natural settings, sports facilities and other attractions. There are also many preserved Medieval castles interesting not only to history buffs. One of the most famous attractions in Carmarthenshire is the retro Gwili Railway, which still operates today. The Dolaucothi Gold Mines shouldn't be missed either.
