Denbighshire
The county of Denbighshire lies in the north of Wales and borders on Conwy and Gwynedd to the
west, Powys to the south and Wrexham and Flintshire to the east. It also occupies a short strip
of the northern Welsh coast. Denbighshire's landscape is typical of this part of Britain – gentle hills,
extensive moorlands and rare forests. The economy is concentrated on cattle breeding in the
uplands and agriculture in the fertile Vale of Clwyd and the coastal plain. Tourism is also a profitable
sector, due to the multiple opportunities for outdoor activities and relaxation. The administrative
headquarters are in Ruthin, a pleasant town with traditional architecture. However, the largest towns
Rhyl and Prestatyn are on the coast and offer wide choice of accomodation and a rich cultural
programme.
