Rhondda Cynon Taff
Rhondda Cynon Taff is situated in the heart of Southern Wales. Despite its relatively small size,
the county ranks second in terms of the number of inhabitants. The administrative centre of the county – Tonypandy is a small settlement with exclusively administrative functions. Much bigger towns are the former coal and iron production centre Pontypridd, which is in deep decline nowadays, as well as the industrial town of Aberdare, famous for its old Anglican churches. The county boasts plenty of rivers and waterways and is named after three of them - Rhondda, Cynon and Taff. Generally, the region's landscape is heavily damaged by the coal and chemical industries and is not attractive at all from the tourists' point of view.
