Romania
Romania is located in Southeastern Europe. It shares borders with Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Moldova, and Ukraine. Romania also borders with the Black Sea, and the Carpathian mountain range bisects its territory. The country is set to join the EU in 2007. Upon its accession it will be the seventh biggest nation in the EU.
The name of the country comes from the Latin Romanus (Roman). The history of this country is far from limited to Count Dracula. The oldest preserved document in Romanian is a letter from 1521, containing a warning about the impending attack of the Ottomans. Romanians are the only Latin peoples in Southeastern Europe, and take pride in being a "Latin island in a Slavic sea".
